I bring to you greetings from Ruhodeza Lodge family and the entire Buhoma community around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. I would like to share with you an overview upon which we operate. Ruhondeza silverback was the first Gorilla to be tracked by tourists in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in 1993 when tourism start in same park. Ruhondeza literally means “some who sleeps a lot “. He headed a group of Gorillas called Mubare which was a family of individuals including : Kanyonyi who was born on the side of the river called kanyonyi , Muyambi meaning helper, Kisho ( his wife) due to her shapeless eyes , Malaika (his first daughter ) who acted like an angle , Kawara meaning a small girl in the family. Unfortunately, in 2013 the humble giant Ruhondeza died and Kanyonyi silverback took over the leadership of the Mubare Gorilla Group. It’s on this basis that I thought of keeping the Hero’s name alive in Buhoma community regardless of its demise and I decided to come up with the idea of starting an Eco Lodge in names of Ruhondeza to pay tribute and in memory of Ruhondeza silverback with the major purpose of conservation and benefiting the surrounding communities socio-economically. I want to take this opportunity to inform you that when you book and stay with us , you will be directly contributing to conservation and empowerment of the local people in Buhoma Community through various aspects like employment, education , market for low materials among others.We look forward to hosting you.
